School’s Out

Paul writes to the Colossians while he is still in jail.  He tells them he is glad he is in jail and not them because he welcomes the chance to suffer for Christ and His people.  Colossians 2: 6-7 says this:

My counsel for you is simple and straightforward:  Just go ahead with what you’ve been given.  You received Christ Jesus, the Master; now live him.  You’re deeply rooted in him.  You’re well constructed upon him.  You know your way around the faith.  Now do what you’ve been taught.  School’s out; quit studying the subject and start living it!!  And let your living spill over into thanksgiving!

How someone in prison could be sooooo positive and uplifting is beyond my comprehension.  Paul is a true example of what having God in your life on an intimate level can really do for your psyche!  Only God could keep Paul so joyous!!  Read those words carefully- have faith that what God has taught you is embedded in your soul.  School is out!   No school doesn’t mean that your work is done, it means that your studying is done but now we have to grow up and show people, by the way we live, what Christ has done in our lives.  Living this way will cause such joy and thankfulness to occur that we will not be able to help ourselves by thankful, truly thankful, in all things!  What are you thankful for?

School’s Out!  Spread the Joy that Christ has put in your life!!

Dear Heavenly Father- Thank you for Paul!  I often wonder what kind of man he would have been if he had not been in prison all those years!  What a wonderful opportunity to have time on his hands to spread Your encouragement!    Help us today, Lord.  Help us to spread the joy and be thankful for all that you have given us!  Now is the time for us to live what you have spent soo much time teaching us- help us to do that in a way that pleases you!
In your name, amen
